At the Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC) experts from medicine and the life sciences are working closely together to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of chronic lung diseases like asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), lung fibrosis or lung cancer and to develop new approaches for their prevention, diagnosis and therapy. The CPC is an institution combining strong partners: The Helmholtz Zentrum München, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) with the University Hospital and Asklepios Pulmonary Hospital in Munich-Gauting.

Also the CPC is one of the five members of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) uniting leading German universities and non-university based lung research units into one coherent organization.
